It's gonna be nice when we're recording on a weekly basis and we don't have to worry about forgetting to cut out technical difficulties! Hopefully there are none of those this week. But no matter what, we're discussing chapters 9-12 of The Paradise Snare!
This week, chapters five through eight of The Paradise Snare! Turns out it's actually the week after THIS one when we finally start writing plot summaries, sadly. But we get there, and the show is all the better for it.
This week, we begin our jaunt through The Paradise Snare! We already have all the episodes for this book recorded, so I can assure you that in the next episode (or the one after?) we actually write up a plot summary so there's less "uhhhh what happened next?" Don't worry. It gets better. (Still no intro or logo. Sorry about that.)
Yeah, we know this our first episode and that we've already screwed up. We forgot to mention which book we're reading!!! What fools. We promise this episode is better than this major goof makes it out to be. The book we've chosen is the first book in the Han Solo Trilogy: The Paradise Snare by A.C. Crispin! Make sure you read through chapter four before the next episode comes out!
We're back everyone! But not before I migrate the show to our new podcast hosting. So enjoy the back catalog as it slowly trickles out over the next few days!
Ben is sick this week, but the show must go on! We're almost to the end of The Hutt Gambit, after all! These were some short chapters, but they do LOTS of setup!
After surviving the Great Texas Ice Event of 2021, Cole has decided to emerge from his Wampa cave to join us for another interlude. Topics include all of the normal BS that you expect of these episodes.
Gettin' real lost in the weeds with stubs this week, good patrons. What does it mean to be a stub? Who decides what gets to be a stub and what doesn't?? I don't know. It doesn't matter. What DOES matter is that we finished Triple Zero and now we're wrecked.
This week's Article From the Archives: Barcarian claw salt
Things start to get heavy in the reading this week, but not heavy enough to make us feel even remotely comfortable. Cole delivers some action figure rumors and Ben has too many feelings about the book. Business as usual around here! For next week, finish Triple Zero!
This week's Article From the Archives: Blackguard's Gorge
In an episode that somehow clocks in at under an hour and a half, we finally get a chance to dive back into Triple Zero. And dive back in we do! Clone romance! Clone injuries! Weird powder! We've got it all, baby! Make sure to get into chapters 17-21 for next week.
Chapters 7 through 11 certainly hit us with some surprises, but mostly just sadness. Also The High Republic seems VERY cool. Chapters 12-16 for next week!
This one's a doozy, folks! I'm not even quite sure how it got so long. We must've spent a little too long giving our "brief" Mando finale impressions. But when we finally do get to the book discussion for this week, we're discussing the short story "Omega Squad: Targets", and then the prologue through chapter 2 of Republic Commando: Triple Zero!
Everything happens so much all the time. Yessss, technically this a Legends podcast, but you can't have seriously expected us to not talk about everything that came out of the Disney investor call last week. It was just never going to happen that way. But! You know what IS Legends? TRIPLE ZERO by Karen Traviss! Read the short story in the back of the book titled "Omega Squad: Targets," and then the prologue through chapter 2.

You might've thought that you were free of both Shadows of the Empire AND us, but you'd be wrong on both counts. As we've promised for the last few weeks, we're finally getting around to finishing up Shadows of the Empire! We read the comic and then played the game to make sure that we got the full experience.
Guri is freed, Xizor makes an exit that is not nearly as dramatic as one would expect, and diamond-boron missiles! What more could you ask for from the conclusion of Shadows of the Empire? Well, aside from an episode of this podcast that doesn't get interrupted by internet troubles. But we even have that this week!
Sigh. Texas strikes back. We were only able to get through our intro section and the first part of the reading this week. But we'll be back to finish out Shadows of the Empire next week!
I hear the Emperor has an eight-pack. I hear the Emperor is shredded. Honestly, as I type that the day after we recorded, I can't remember why we said it. That must mean it's a good episode, right? Topics also include: jade ops, moonglow, and Dash Ex Machina. For next week, finish the gosh-dang book!
This week's Article From the Archives: Undervector
Well. He's done it. Xizor has finally turned into his most terrible final form. But we try to make it brief because it's gross and uncomfortable to read for countless reasons. But thankfully chapters 22-28 aren't TOTAL trash.
This week's Article From the Archives: Hayde Gofai
Shadows of the Empire keeps trucking along at its blazing-fast pace! And Xizor keeps being the worst interspersed with a few moments of him actually being kinda cool.
This week's Article From the Archives: Confederate First Fleet
The internet is a rough place. Sometimes so rough Cole can't even access it. What happened is that we got halfway through recording this ep and then Cole's internet died. So have this half interlude kinda thing that we ended up with? Thank you for your time.
You can probably divine that we're reading SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE by Steve Perry this time around! We're also talking about collecting a lot? So that's a fun direction the podcast is going. Topics include big box Star Wars PC games, the West End RPG (yes, again), and the possibility of doing comics in the future! A busy episode, but would you expect anything else from us at this point?
This week's Article From the Archives: Bilios system
All good things must come to an end, and Hard Contact is no exception. We certainly enjoyed it, so hopefully you did too! See you in a few weeks with an interlude!
This week's Article From the Archives: Gengh-Noghri
The first half of the show is pretty one-sided, if we're being honest. Ben basically talks about topics HE wants to talk about and Cole is gracious enough to let him tire himself out. What a great guy. Please read chapters 13-16 of Hard Contact before listening to this one, and finish the book before listening to the next one.
Okay, Cole just wants to talk about Hard Contact and Ben is INSISTENT on making side trips. Wookieepedia is both a blessing and a curse. But in his defense, someone was breaking into Ben's house to take photos of his Ree-Yees figure. Cut him some slack and enjoy The Three Stooges: Clone Edition.
Finally back at it! This week, we cover the Light of the Jedi excerpt (very good), Star Wars Squadrons (very good), and... Boshek, I guess. We also do our first on-air Wookieepedia audit, if that's what it can be called. And eventually we get around to chapters 1-4 of Hard Contact.
This week's Article From the Archives: Voss Parck's Cousin
We're back! It's been too long. Lots of nonsense on this one. Some Mandalorian, some Boba Fett, some FACPOV TESB edition, some Star Wars Squadrons, and of COURSE some New Jedi Order. Our next book is Republic Commando: Hard Contact by Karen Traviss, and we're reading chapters 1-4!
OH MY GOD THE LAST COMMAND IS OVER AND I'M DYING. But it was really good, huh? We're sad to see it go, but it just means we're on to our next adventure!
This week's Article From the Archives: Massacre at Sooncanoo Beacon
ANNNYYWWAAAYYY. The penultimate episode of The Last Command is here! And with it comes maybe the weakest element of this whole trilogy? Make up your own mind for that one. Finish the book for next week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Wall of Remembrance
I know I keep saying that this is when it's starting to get real, but library patrons... its really starting to get real now. All of the chess pieces are moving independently and reaching the same conclusions and honestly it's a little creepy in that Tim Zahn kinda way, but that's why we love it. Also... RIP Ferrier. Also. Are you digging the new episode title format? We're too funny to not do it this way now, I think.
This week's Article From the Archives: Deme Tryshyn
Coming to you LIVE from SmugglerCon 2020 with your regularly-scheduled dose of Star Wars home release discussion! But not too much this week. Instead, we talk about what you ACTUALLY came to hear, which is chapters 10 through 13 of The Last Command! It's getting REAL now!!!
As interludes tend to be, this is one all over the place. Dawn of the Jedi? Too much Ahsoka? Too many Mandalores? The Black Fleet Crisis? All of this AND MORE. Also, we're reading a little book called The Last Command by Timothy Zahn this time around. Read chapters 1-4.
This week's Article From the Archives: Mandalore the Conqueror
The penultimate chapter of our trek through Dark Force Rising! A lot of action this week, but not in the boring yada yada way. Fun times ahead! For next week, finish the book!
The summary of this week's non-book summary discussion could basically be summed up as "we talked about Dave Filoni way more than we should've." Also: Project Luminous... what is it? We certainly don't know. But you do by the time you're hearing this! Funny how that works. Chapters 18-22 of Dark Force Rising this week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Obroa-skai System
Technical issues abound! It's just one of those weeks, I suppose. Our comeuppance for missing last week, maybe? I don't know. Anyway. Chapters 14-17 of Dark Force Rising this week!
At a base level, we talk about chapters 9-13 of Dark Force Rising. On either side of that discussion, however, it's kinda all over the place. But would you expect anything else from us at this point? Touching on the Sequel Trilogy, reboots, rumors, and then the New Jedi Order after the book discussion. Wild stuff. Chapters 14-17 for next week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Laird Gustavu
This week, we read chapters 5-8 of Dark Force Rising, spend entirely too much time talking about The Old Republic, and lament the sheer time investment that reading the New Jedi Order will be for this podcast.
This week's Article(s) From the Archives: Deeb and 3959 BBY
Dark forces are rising!! We're finally jumping back into the Thrawn trilogy with gusto! And of course we have to talk about Supernatural Encounters again. Can't escape it.
Our adventure across Mimban comes to an exciting conclusion! Muppets! Tunnels! Crystals! Vader! Kamehameha!!!! For next week, read... some number of chapters from DARK FORCE RISING by Timothy Zahn! Look on Twitter (@ObroaSkaiPod) for d33ts.
We're just reading the B plot to a Han Solo adventure that is much better than this book. Okay, not really. This book is still good. It's just fun to poke at. Chapters 5-8 of Splinter of the Mind's Eye this week!
FINALLY. We're actually READING something again. And it's a real doozy. Splinter of the Mind's Eye is kind of a trip, which you already know if you're reading along with us. Join us for chapters 1-4 this week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Moss-hopper
In our final interlude before we do another interlude in a few weeks, we're joined by loyal listener and friend of the show Dakota to unpack The Rise of Skywalker! There's a lot to talk about, obviously, so I won't get into it too much in this description. Yes, we know it isn't Legends. Just listen.
This week's Article From the Archives: AD-1S Modular Multi-Role Starfighter
Wow. Our second interlude in a row? (Spoiler alert: the next episode is gonna be an interlude too because I hear a Skywalker is gonna rise.) But we're actually ready to come back for real this time: our next book is Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster! Read the first four chapters sometime before New Year's Eve!
This week's Article From the Archives: Scalphunter Rifle
We are alive! Ben just got very very busy and this hiatus ended up being much longer than anticipated. And truthfully? It isn't really over. This is just an interlude to remind everyone that we still exist. Also to talk about the freakin' MANDALORIAN. But we'll be back for real soon!
We're finally leaving Haruun Kal for good, folks. And it feels good, but also kinda bad. We made some real memories here. Most of them are not good, but there were some good Mace-isms along the way.
This week's Article from the Archives: Sector Governance Decree
Mace-isms. We all love them. Unfortunately we've not had reason to fall back on them throughout the course of this book! But we spout some off anyway. Chapters 19-21 of Shatterpoint this week!
This week's Article from the Archives is the Archives itself!!!!: Celebratus Archive
In this installment of Obroa-skai Walkers, we find out that things on Haruun Kal are still bad, and they're about to get worse! Next week, finish chapters 19-21.
This week's Article From the Archives: Pod Seventeen
This week, we finally encounter Jedi Master Depa Billaba. Depending on your point of view, that meeting might ~subvert your expectations~ a little bit. Hard to say. Chapters 10-13 of Shatterpoint this week!
Stover really keeps the hits coming this week, not that anyone really expected him to stop. This book just keeps getting better despite all of the bad stuff though!! Or maybe because of it?? Either way, it leaves us well and truly forked.
This week's Article From the Archives: Shobquix Yards
Fresh off of our accidental hiatus from last week, we're finally ready to jump into chapters 1-5 of Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover! This book is... a lot, to say the least. "Graphic" only gets part of the way there, at least by Star Wars standards. But it's good all the same, and we hope you'll follow along on our journey across Haruun Kal!
This week's Article From the Archives: Brock Starsher
We're back! After what feels like a millennium! Standard interlude fodder this week. Is this interlude just a repeat of our last one where we talked about The Phantom Menace and home releases a lot? Maybe. It's hard to say.
We're sad this week. Survivor's Quest has, at long last, come to an end. But thankfully, this episode has a lot of good (well, good to us) jokes and we just laugh the pain away. We'll be back in a few weeks!
This week's Article From the Archives: Talan Joben
In this penultimate episode of our jaunt through Survivor's Quest, some big stuff happens this week! Formbi isn't as trustworthy as we thought, Drask is way cooler than we thought, and Fel does a fight.
Finally! Some of our questions are answered! But not all of them. Not even close. There are still so many questions. You cannot believe how many questions remain unanswered. Anyway. Read chapters 20-23 for next week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Grand Avenue (Graith)
This week is OSW... After Dark. Meaning we're recording MUCH later than normal. I didn't get to go to sleep til like 1:30am. But anyway, we talked about the next segment of Survivor's Quest! Strange things are afoot on the ruins of Outbound Flight...
This week's Article From the Archives: Daimanate starfighter
Continuing our journey through Survivor's Quest by Timothy Zahn, we open the episode dicussing some of the pros and cons of both Legends and Canon. It might come across as ragging on Canon a little hard, but we both love it. Really. We promise. We also touch on the first new Legends content we've gotten in years!!! Make sure to read chapters 11-15 for next week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Quadronomic Fluxer
Yes, I know we just finished a Timothy Zahn book. But we're jumping forward about 20 years in the timeline, so this should be sufficiently different. How are Luke and Mara so perfect for each other? Also why are we talking about Master and Apprentice? Chapters 1-5 of Survivor's Quest this week!
This week's Article From the Archives: Rail detonator
WE BACK. It feels like it's been forever, but it's only been like three weeks. Get off of our backs. We take an oddly deep dive on different edits/versions of A New Hope and the OT in general, Cole is sweating, drop some challenging opinions regarding Revenge of the Sith, and celebration The Phantom Menace the best way we know how: by kind of talking around it.
Well, loyal listeners, it's here. The beginning is coming to an end. This week, we tackle the last few chapters of Heir to the Empire and look to the future. Does this book live up to the hype? We certainly think so.
Well. This episode isn't two hours long, but it isn't too far off. Why are we so insistent on playing pretend in this wide and wonderful Star Wars universe? It makes these episodes go much longer than they need too. Anyway, this week, Karrde is still in trouble, and Mara wakes up for once. Chapters 24-27 of Heir to the Empire! For next week, finish the book!
This one is another doozy of an episode. But since Celebration happened, you KNOW we had to talk about that some. There was just no getting around it. Thankfully, however, we do discuss chapters 19-23 of Heir to the Empire as well. For next week, chapters 24-27!
This week's Article from the Archives: Grand Admiral Uniform
Our review of Heir to the Empire chapters 13-18 might be our best balance of content and goofs yet. We've hit the golden ratio and will almost definitely never find it again. This week also features new teen star Joruus C'baoth. Everyone hates him.
Does the name of Dooku's clone have two Us or three Os? Not important. Heir to the Empire chapters 7-12! Ben is sick and the first random article this week was just too topical to pass up.
This week's Article From the Archives: Sinuses and Geng Salaban
This episode is uhhhhh kind of a doozy. Like REALLY a doozy. We started talking about the Article From the Archives and then fell down multiple rabbit holes and then had to talk about HEIR TO THE EMPIRE CHAPTER 1-6 and almost two hours later we finally called it. BUT. This episode is worth the running time. And who knows? Some of you probably like long episodes.
Cole read Children of the Jedi (spoilers for that book/the Callista trilogy ahead), so Ben takes that opportunity to Callista-jack the conversation. Like mommy-jacking, but with Callista. It's on-brand.
This week's Article from the Archives: Supa Fighter
This week is the end of the MedStar duology, and we're all very sad. Fun fact: there are five distinct Jedi trials! Even the world's two biggest Star Wars fans can learn things from time to time.
We back! Trucking on through the MedStar duology and starting Jedi Healer this week! Chapters 1-8 as well as the short story "MedStar: Intermezzo." NPR voices ahead.
The Prequels had some rough dialogue, huh? Thankfully we don't actually talk about that very long. For next week, read chapters 1-8 of MedStar II: Jedi Healer by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry! But not before you read the short story "MedStar Intermezzo," which takes place between the two books. You can find it here (legally and safely): epdf.tips/medstar-intermezzo.h…
Back to the front this week! Well. Kind of. The Rimsoos aren't really on the front. But we kick things off with a mini discussion about canonicity! So that's pretty cool.
Topics include: Maybe trailer soon? (probably not), hugedong69, and Young Jedi Knights. It's a good one! Don't worry, the episode is still family-friendly.
This week, Orrin continues to be not even remotely trustworthy, Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Jedi, and Ben still can't do the outro. Basically there are no surprises here.
This week is more or less just an extended technical difficulties segment, but we manage to get our chapter discussion out into the ether anyway. Next week, read chapters 24-31!
This week on Obroa-Skai Walkers, we say goodbye to the podcast. This is the last one.
Not really. That's just a dumb joke from the end. This is more than just a simple interlude! This week's episode exists to tell you that our next book (starting next week) is KENOBI by John Jackson Miller! Make sure to read up through chapter seven before then!
This week, Ben was at Gen Con and didn't have time to read. So we just kinda put a brick on the landspeeder accelerator and hope we don't crash into a sand dune on this one!
This is a particularly tangent-heavy episode of OSW, but we still make our way through the next few chapters of Rebel Dawn! Is Han Solo actually the Rimrunner? You'll have to listen to find out!
It's here, library goers! This week, we're finishing off The Hutt Gambit! We also talk about Zorba the Hutt a lot for some reason? He isn't in the book.
